MTC Cable and Fox Cable Services fail to reach new Carriage Agreement

The National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), the designated negotiating consultant for MTC Cable, and Fox Cable Services (representing Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, Fox Broadcast Broadcast Network (WNEW) Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, and the Big Ten Network) have failed to reach an agreement on the extension of carriage rights for MTC after 12/31/19.

At this time, Fox’s demands include a 24% increase over current rates. That is more than 10 times what the rate of inflation has been over the last several years and comes on the heels of a 23% increase in 2017, just 2 years ago. MTC feels that these increases are discriminatory and unfair for our customers.

MTC Cable and its partners at the NCTC continue to negotiate in good faith for a mutually beneficial agreement. If an agreement cannot be reached by the 12/31/19 deadline, it will be necessary for MTC to remove the services from its channel line-up at that time. Any updates will be posted on the MTC website mtctel.com.
