TRADITIONAL PHONE SERVICE

If you are experiencing an issue with your telephone connection, following these simple troubleshooting steps may help. If the problem persists, please contact MTC Repair at 845-586-3319.

NO DIAL TONE?

  1. Unplug all telephone accessories (i.e. regular & cordless telephones, fax & answering machines, satellite TV equipment) and leave them unplugged.

  2. Take one telephone (not a cordless) and plug it into the phone jack.

  3. Pick up the phone and see if you have a dial tone. If you DO NOT HAVE A DIAL TONE, plug the same phone into a separate jack and continue until you have checked all your jacks. If this doesn't work and you have another phone, do the same.

  4. If you get a dial tone, then you have a damaged phone. One bad phone can disable the rest of the phones. By unplugging the bad one, your telephone service will be restored.

  5. If you do not get a dial tone and would like to test further, call the MTC Repair line from another location or stop by our office and we will have one of our knowledgeable technicians come to you. If the problem is in your telephone equipment or outlets that are not covered under a maintenance agreement there will be a cost of $50.00 per hour plus any materials used.

ONE TELEPHONE NOT WORKING?

  1. Unplug your telephone and plug it into another outlet that you know is working to verify if the problem is the telephone itself or the wiring/outlet to the telephone.

  2. Check your connections and make sure that they are all secure.

    • Is the mounting cord plugged tightly into the outlet?

    • Is the mounting cord plugged tightly into the telephone?

    • On a regular telephone is the receiver cord tightly connected to the telephone?

    • Is there damage to any of the cords?

    • Have the cords, telephone or outlet been exposed to moisture?

    • Is this telephone a cordless telephone? Does it have power?

  3. If you do not have any success and would like your telephone tested further, unplug your telephone and stop at our business office and we will be happy to test it for you at no cost. If you would like us to come to you, give the MTC Repair line a call and we will have one of our knowledgeable technicians come to you. If the problem is in your telephone equipment or outlets that are not covered under a maintenance agreement there will be a cost of $50.00 per hour plus any materials used.

**If your service is affected due to any MTC equipment failure on the outside of the premise, there will be no charge to you.
