02.02.2020: The first Super Bowl to be shot in Ultra High Definition (UHD/4K) can be viewed in 4K on

The time for Ultra High Definition (UHD/4K) is still up and coming, but we all have some catching up to do. Now is the time! For the first time ever, the Super Bowl will be shot in high-dynamic range (HDR) format and broadcast in UHD on compatible devices. So, if you’re an MTC customer with a TiVo set-top box and own a UHD/4K TV you are ready to view a game that is clearer and sharper than ever before.

FOX Sports has produced its full Thursday Night Football package in this format this past season. FOX will have six 4K cameras — two on the sidelines, two on the goal lines and two on the end lines — specifically for the FOX network's "Super Zoom" feature, but 50 cameras will be used overall. When the broadcast needs to get in tight on some action, the feed will crop a "window" from the 4K picture captured by those cameras giving the network tight, high-resolution images without needing to zoom in optically.

FOX has the following recommendations for people wanting to watch the Super Bowl in UHD/4K: Super Bowl LIV will be available on 4K devices in 4K quality and HDR. A 4K TV and compatible viewing device are required.

FOX Sports also announced: On Super Bowl game day, UHD/HDR coverage will begin at 2pm ET with the FOX NFL KICKOFF SHOW and will continue thru the game and post show. You can even watch the Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show in UHD and HDR. With more pixels, improved color, and better contrast, get ready for an unprecedented Super Bowl experience.
