Establishing Or Transferring Phone Service

To establish or to transfer new residential phone service, please call your local service office.

To establish or to transfer new business phone service, call or visit your local service office.

To enable us to process your order to establish phone service, we will need to know your complete address, and how you want to be listed in the directory. We also need to know about previous telephone service in your name, and other credit information. We will ask for identification, and a number where you can be reached either at work or through a friend or relative until your service is established.

Installation Rates
Installation rates will vary with the needs of your service. There are many steps involved in installing your phone service, but not every customer needs each step. The amount of work needed to install phone service for you will depend on the type of facilities and service you want.

Your Telephone Bill How You Are Billed
Charges for local service and equipment are billed one month in advance. Service charges are billed after they have been placed. Charges for toll or long distance calls may appear on the same bill covering a period of one month, ending about fifteen days prior to the date of the bill.

Bill Payments
Paying by mail - Please mail payments to: Margaretville Telephone Co. P.O. Box 260, Margaretville, NY 12455, when mailing payments please use the return envelope that has been enclosed with the bill. Return the BILLING PAGE with your payment. If the page has been mislaid, write your telephone number (including your area code) on the check. Where bills may be paid in person (please bring bill and payment page) - Bills may be paid in person at the telephone office or:

  • Delaware National Bank of Delhi,
    Margaretville Office, 42568 State Hwy. 28, Margaretville NY 12455.
  • National Bank of Delaware County,
    Andes Office, 314 Main St., Andes, NY 13731;

MTC also offers ACH (Automatic Bank Payments). With MTC Your monthly payment will automatically be withdrawn from your checking or savings account. You'll no longer have to worry about writing checks or mailing the payment to us. You'll save postage and time! Call our business office for more detail & to get started with an ACH payment.

Error On Your Bill
If you have a question on your bill, call your local service representative. Explain the possible error to the representative helping you. If the error cannot be resolved, please pay the undisputed charges on time, so you'll maintain a good payment record while the problem is being investigated.

Late Payment Charge
Customer bills for telephone service are due when they are rendered. A customer is in default unless payment is made on or before the due date specified on the bill. If payment is not received by the 23rd day of the month, a late payment charge of one and one-half percent (1-1/2%) per monthly billing period will be applied to all amounts in arrears and on the unpaid late payment charges excluding one month's local service charge.

Paying The Bill On Time, So Your Service Will Not Be Disconnected
If your payments are not received by the due dates, or you do not meet your mutually agreed upon payment arrangements, your telephone service may be disconnected.

How To Get Your Service Restored
All past charges must be paid or a payment arrangement must be made before your service can be reconnected, you will be charged a restoral fee, and you may be asked to pay a deposit.
